Find answers to common questions about our pet surgery services in Mexico

We are a concierge coordination service based in Arizona. We connect pet owners with licensed, reputable veterinarians in Sonora, Mexico, for surgical procedures. We handle the scheduling, medical records transfer, and provide incidental transportation as part of the coordination package. We are not a veterinary clinic and do not perform diagnoses or surgeries ourselves.

Yes. All veterinarians we work with are fully licensed and practice in accredited facilities in Sonora, Mexico. Per our Comprehensive Client Service Agreement (Section B.11), we provide you with the veterinarian's name, facility details, and Mexican license number in advance, and you are welcome to verify their credentials.

The primary reason is the significant difference in operational costs, including malpractice insurance, overhead, and medical supply expenses, between the U.S. and Mexico. This allows the veterinarians to offer high-quality care at a fraction of the U.S. price, which we pass on to you.

All surgery and anesthesia carry inherent risks, whether in the U.S. or Mexico. The key is managed risk. We only partner with licensed veterinarians who perform procedures in modern, clean facilities. We ensure full transparency of these risks in our Informed Consent documents (CSA Section B). Many clients find that the quality of care is excellent and the cost savings significantly outweigh the perceived risks.

Medical Emergency: The Mexican surgical facility has protocols for intraoperative emergencies. They will contact us immediately, and we will notify you. All decisions regarding emergency care are made by the attending veterinarian in consultation with you.

Transport Emergency: Your pet is covered by our bailee insurance policy (details in CSA Section A.3 & C.3) during incidental transport. In the event of an accident or illness, we will seek immediate veterinary care and file a claim under this policy.

Transportation is provided as an incidental service to support the core coordination of the surgery. It is not a standalone, for-hire service. We use a private, climate-controlled vehicle operated by our company owner to transport your pet to and from the surgical facility in Mexico. This model allows us to keep costs low and ensure personalized care.

It is the client's responsibility to ensure their pet meets all requirements for crossing the border. This typically includes a valid rabies certificate and a recent health certificate (Certificate of Veterinary Inspection) issued by a USDA-accredited veterinarian. We can provide general guidance, but you must confirm the latest requirements with the USDA APHIS website.

Our coordination fee covers scheduling, records transfer, communication with the vet, and incidental round-trip transportation. The veterinary fee quoted by the Mexican clinic typically includes the surgery, anesthesia, routine medications, and a post-operative check-up.

Once a surgery slot is confirmed with the veterinarian, deposits or partial fees may be non-refundable to cover our coordination time and the clinic's reserved time. Our specific policy is detailed in the Required Client Disclosures section of our Agreement (CSA Section A.8). Refunds are handled on a case-by-case basis.

Coverage for procedures performed outside the U.S. varies significantly by insurance provider. We make no representations regarding insurance coverage. We strongly recommend you contact your pet insurance company directly to ask about their "out-of-country" or "international" coverage policies before proceeding. We will provide you with full medical records to submit a claim.

After the procedure, you will receive comprehensive discharge instructions and your pet's full medical records from the Mexican veterinarian. It is your responsibility to provide the recommended aftercare. We advise sharing these records with your regular U.S. veterinarian for any necessary follow-up appointments or care.

Any post-operative complications that arise after returning to Arizona should be addressed by your local veterinarian or an emergency clinic immediately. The Mexican veterinarian will be available for consultation, but ongoing hands-on care will need to be managed in the U.S.

Bailee insurance protects clients against loss, injury, or death of their pet while the pet is in our care, custody, or control during transport. Our policy details, including coverage limits and exclusions, are explicitly listed in our Agreement (CSA Sections A.3 and C.3). This provides a layer of financial protection beyond our standard liability limitation.

After you upload your vet quote, we'll have your personalized cost comparison back to you within 24–48 hours. Once you approve, we secure your surgery slot (usually within 1–2 weeks), handle all permits and records transfers (CSA §A.2–A.5), and schedule transport. Most clients see surgery scheduled 2–4 weeks after quote submission.

Absolutely. Per CSA §B.11, we share your surgeon's name, clinic details, and credentials up front. If you'd like a brief video or phone consult, we'll set it up so you feel 100% confident in their qualifications before you commit.

All anesthesia protocols follow international veterinary standards. Your surgeon will review pre-op bloodwork, choose the safest anesthetic mix for your pet's age and health, and provide tailored pain control. These details are itemized in your Informed Consent (CSA §B.7–B.9).

You're responsible for obtaining a valid rabies certificate and a USDA health certificate within 10 days of travel (CSA §A.6). We provide a checklist and sample forms, and we'll guide you on timing so there are no delays at customs.

If surgery overruns, or your pet needs extra recovery days, we'll communicate revised timelines immediately (CSA §C.4). All additional transport and care stays are covered under our coordination fee—no surprise added costs.

Should your pet require an extra post-op check or urgent care in Sonora, we'll arrange it directly with the surgeon and cover the coordination under your original fee (CSA §A.8). You'll receive full updated medical records to share with your local vet upon return.
